The Acorna series follows a young alien girl discovered as an infant inside a lifepod by space miners. At first, the men who find her have no idea what she is. She looks almost human, but she has a small horn on her forehead, unusual hands and feet, silver hair, and extraordinary gifts. She can heal sickness, purify air and water, sense poison and minerals, encourage plants to grow, and communicate in ways that seem almost miraculous. Because of her horn and gentle nature, she becomes known as Acorna, the Unicorn Girl.

Raised among miners, traders, and outcasts, Acorna quickly becomes more than a rescued child. Her powers make her valuable, dangerous, and deeply compassionate. She becomes involved in freeing exploited children, resisting corrupt businesses, helping damaged worlds recover, and searching for the truth about her origins. What begins as the story of an abandoned alien child grows into a much larger spacefaring saga about identity, chosen family, slavery, healing, environmental damage, war, and the survival of an endangered people.

As Acorna matures, she learns that she belongs to the Linyaari, a peaceful unicorn-like race with powerful healing abilities and a deep spiritual connection to life. Her journey shifts from personal survival to rediscovering her people, defending them from the brutal insectoid Khleevi, and helping restore worlds scarred by violence and exploitation. Later books expand the story beyond Acorna herself, especially into the Acorna’s Children books, which focus on the next generation. The full series contains ten books, including the three Acorna’s Children novels.
