“In a Universe protected by the Three Laws of Robotics, humans are safe… When a key politician is murdered, suspicion falls on Caliban…the only robot without guilt or conscience, with no need to obey or respect humanity…a robot without the Three Laws. But the stakes go deeper than one man’s life. Caliban is challenging long-held ideas of a robot’s place in society. Will he lead the New Law robots in a rebellion that threatens all of humanity?”
It seems that the authors who extended Asimov’s robot universe just couldn’t keep their hands off of the murder mystery genre. Roger MacBride Allen goes down that road in Book 2 of the Caliban Trilogy: “Inferno”. But, of course, it isn’t simply a murder mystery…

This audio rendition clocks in at about 9.75 hrs. The character of Prospero is introduced in this book and the software renders his name as if he were a small brown bird that got paid to be one. In the end I propagated “Prah-speroh” throughout this and the next book to correct that. There were a few other oddities, notably reversed word pairs that must have been editorial printing errors since it’s an unlikely OCR artifact. Anyway, I fixed what I heard.
